I've decided that I need a new hobby. For the last month or so I've been watching a lot of Outdoor Channel and the Sportsman Network; and that has piqued my interest in hunting. Unfortunately I'm also learning that hunting is one of those thing that people learn from their family as they are growing up. (on a bit of a side note it's fascinating to me when they show kids going on their first hunts when they are 5-6 yrs old.) I'm not giving up on hunting yet but it does make me realize it's going to be a long time before I can call myself a hunter.
At some point I'll be going to Patriot firearms to learn to shoot. Another thing that was not part of my family as I was growing up. This I do understand why it was not done when we were kids, Guns are potentially very dangerous around kids. However I'm now an adult and I'm choosing to learn to shoot. The intro class at Patriot will teach me to shoot handguns and then I can learn to shoot a rifle. Of course this is all long term planning on my part.
Short-term I'm teaching myself Archery. I found a good deal on a Whisper Creek compound bow on eBay and I'm practicing shoot in my backyard.
